From Guesswork to Buyers at the Gate: Sarah’s Coffee Story
A Masaka Robusta coffee farmer on how a season of training changed the way buyers see her cooperative.

Sarah Nakato has grown Robusta coffee in Masaka for eighteen years. Last season she joined her first FarmSync Academy cohort.
"I kept no records"
"Before, everything was in my head," she says. Module 4 and Module 11 changed that — she now keeps a simple notebook of picking, drying and input records that her Record-Keeper reviews monthly.
Buyers noticed
Her cooperative's storefront on the FarmSync marketplace shows its training Readiness Score and volumes. Two coffee exporters reached out within a month.
What's next
Sarah is preparing for her independent audit with JAPAC-GAP. "The Academy prepared me. The auditor will decide," she says — exactly how it should be.
Completion ≠ Certification. Training readiness only — certification decisions are made independently by JAPAC-GAP.
